  • Careem Pay: fastest instant send if you already have the app

  • Wise: fastest with the exact delivery time shown before you send

Ways to send money instantly from the UAE

How fast your money transfer arrives depends mostly on how the money reaches the other end.

To a bank account

The most common method.

You make the transfer, and the money arrives in the recipient's bank account directly.

Speed depends on the network:

  • Send through your bank and it goes via SWIFT, which usually takes 1 to 5 working days.

  • Send through a provider like Wise or Remitly and it can take in minutes, because they use local accounts around the world.

With a money transfer provider, your money never really crosses the border the way a bank transfer does.

Cash pickup

Money is sent for the recipient to collect as cash at an agent or exchange house, no bank account needed.

Exchange houses like Al Ansari and LuLu run huge networks, and so do MoneyGram and Western Union.

Funds are usually ready in minutes, and the recipient needs an ID, and the name has to match exactly.

It's fast and works for almost anyone, but it costs more than a bank or wallet transfer.

Mobile wallet

Very common across Asia.

Money sent straight to a mobile wallet like GCash in the Philippines or a UPI account in India.

You send AED and the recipient gets it on their phone, usually within minutes.

Only works for supported wallets, and not every provider offers it.

Our live comparisons will show you which provider offers mobile wallets and which ones.

Same-provider or app wallet

If you and your recipient use the same app, or you send from a UAE wallet like Careem Pay or Botim, the money moves inside that system instead of crossing the banking network.

It's usually instant, but the limits are small and it costs a bit more.

Best for regular, smaller transfers home.

Our live comparisons now compare deposit and withdrawal options, including cash pickup and mobile wallets.

Why not just use a bank or exchange house?

You can send money abroad through your UAE bank, it's just the slowest and most expensive way to do it.

The moment your money leaves the country it moves over SWIFT, a network that hops your payment through a chain of banks before it arrives.

Each hop takes time and takes a small cut.

That's why a bank transfer abroad usually takes 1 to 5 working days.

UAE banks also add a big margin on the exchange rate, so you lose more than you think.

An exchange house is the other common option.

It's fast, especially for cash, but you still pay a margin on the rate.

A money transfer provider is usually faster and cheaper on the same corridor.

The dirham is pegged to the US dollar, so on USD transfers the rate barely matters.

If you’re sending USD, keep an eye on the fees as these will impact the receiving amount more.

Now the basics are covered, here are the fastest ways to send.

Like all transfers, this depends on the amount and the destination.

Wise

Wise is the fastest option for online money transfers from the UAE.

Wise is very fast, especially on the smaller amounts.

Most transfers will arrive in minutes - hours, especially on smaller amounts.

However, Wise is only made for online transfers, meaning there is no cash pickup or delivery options.

Because of online transfers, it is a bit slower compared to Remitly’s cash pickup / delivery options.

This is mainly the reason why I wouldn’t consider it the fastest overall option.

Here’s what you can expect from Wise in terms of speed:

The limits are usually higher compared to Careem and Remitly, so it’s perfect for slightly bigger transfers.

Remitly

Remitly offers the fastest cash pickup and cash delivery.

For sending money home, Remitly is the fastest option for most people.

It’s best for corridors like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

You sign up with your Emirates ID and can send in minutes.

There are two speed options:

  • Express lands in minutes but costs a bit more.

  • Economy is cheaper but slower.

Here’s what the speed looks like for economy transfers:

You can pick whichever you want per transfer.

You can pay out to a bank, cash pickup, or a mobile wallet, so it works whether your family has a bank account or not.

Remitly is licensed in the DIFC by the DFSA, so it's a regulated provider here, not just an app used from abroad.

First transfers often have promotional offers, a lower limit and a one-off check while they verify you.

Taptap Send

Taptap Send is the fastest for transfers to South Asia and Africa.

For money transfers to South Asia and Africa, Taptap Send is fast and one of the cheapest.

It's an app, licensed in the DIFC by the DFSA, with a huge UAE user base.

Most transfers will arrive in minutes at a very low cost:

The speed mainly comes from mobile wallet payout.

Taptap sends money straight to wallets like bKash in Bangladesh and mobile money across Africa, so there's no bank in the middle.

When I was creating our TapTap Send review, I made a few test transfers to Asian accounts and all landed in minutes.

TapTap Send is cheap and fast for transfers to Asia and Africa, but it is not the best option for transfers to the EEA.

Careem Pay

Careem Pay is the fastest option for small transfers.

If you already use Careem, it's one of the fastest ways to send money, no new account needed.

You send money from your wallet balance, and it takes seconds.

The international side runs on LuLu Exchange, so the coverage is fairly big.

You can pay out to a bank, cash, or a wallet on the main corridors like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

Careem is usually cheaper than a normal bank, and for a small transfer that is usually fine.

Careem is fast, but usually a bit more expensive than a money transfer specialist.

On slightly bigger amounts, compare the rate against Wise or Remitly first, a small difference adds up.

There are also caps, around AED 45,000 per transfer and AED 135,000 a month.

Fine for regular family support, but not for a large one-off.

MoneyGram

MoneyGram is the fastest option for cash deposits.

When you or the recipient want to handle cash, MoneyGram is the fastest way to send money.

Remitly is the fastest on the receiver end (faster than MoneyGram) but it costs more and there are no cash deposit options for you (everything is handled online from your side).

With MoneyGram, you pay online or in store, and the money is ready to collect in minutes.

The recipient will need to show an ID and the name on the receipt has to match exactly.

Exchange houses like Al Ansari and LuLu do the same thing and are everywhere, but MoneyGram has exceptionally good offers on first transfers.

First transfers are often cheaper than Western Union or an exchange house.

Beyond the first time transfer offer, we suggest running a live comparison to see who’s cheaper for cash deposit and pickup (both available through our filters).

Regency FX

Regency FX is the fastest option for large transfers.

For large transfers (AED 200,000+) the “fastest” is more about getting set up and cleared without any delays.

Regency FX comes with an account manager who will ensure your transfer goes smoothly and at the best time possible.

They prep the transfer, lock in the rate, and guide you through the checks that slow large transfers.

But if we're looking at the raw speed, here's what you can expect from Regency FX:

AED / EURMinutes - 24 hours
AED / GBPMinutes - 24 hours
AED / INRMinutes - 24 hours
AED / USDMinutes - 24 hours

On amounts like this the delay is rarely the transfer itself.

It's the AML and compliance checks on the way, and your bank flagging it.

An account manager helps you clear these fast.

If you do need to send a large amount and need it fast, I suggest getting a few quotes from different currency brokers and comparing them:

All the above are good options and take customers from the UAE.

Most of the time the rate and speed will depend on the currency availability, meaning one broker may have better supply of your currencies than the other.

Fastest ways to send by destination

Destination is the biggest factor in how fast your money lands.

Here are examples from our live comparisons for popular destinations:

What affects transfer speed?

There are a few things that will affect the transfer speed and how quickly your money will arrive.

How you pay

The faster your money reaches the provider, the faster it goes out.

Pay by debit card or from a wallet balance for an almost instant deposit.

A manual bank transfer is the slowest way to fund your transfer (but often the cheapest).

Aani is the instant payment system within the United Arab Emirates.

It moves money between UAE accounts in seconds, so where a provider supports it, funding your transfer is instant.

Because money transfer companies use local accounts, deposits are technically domestic transfers meaning you can use Aani as a deposit method.

However, very few companies actually offer it since it’s still fairly new.

Where it's going and in what currency

The biggest factor you don’t really have control over.

Some countries have instant payout options and use more established currencies (like EUR, GBP, USD, etc).

But many countries don’t have local networks and there’s less currency supply available.

This means the same transfer from Dubai will arrive at different times in different countries.

How the recipient gets it

Cash pickup and mobile wallet are usually ready in minutes.

A bank deposit depends on the receiving bank, which can be instant or take a day or two.

Checks and timing

The first time you use a provider, or send to a new recipient, there's often a short one-off check before the transfer starts.

It's a fraud safeguard and usually only happens once.

Large amounts can trigger a review too, and anything routed over SWIFT can only be done while the banks are open.

How to send money faster

There isn’t much you can do once the transfer is sent, but there are a few steps you can take to ensure the process is fast and smooth.

Get set up first

Pick your provider, do the ID verification, and add the recipient before you need to send.

Fund your transfer

Pay by debit card, from a wallet balance, or by Aani where it's supported, rather than a manual bank transfer.

Use Careem Pay or Botim

If you already use any of these apps, this is the fastest way in terms of convenience and set up.

It will be a bit more expensive compared to the money transfer apps, and the coverage is limited.

But it’s a good option for one-off small transfers.

Tell your bank about large transfers

For unusually large transfers, let your bank know in advance so they don't pause it.

A large incoming payment can get held on the receiving side too.

How much it costs to send money instantly

The faster you need money to arrive, the more it will usually cost.

Here’s how the top money transfer options compare in terms of price for online transfers:

If your recipient needs cash, that's usually the priciest fast option.

MoneyGram, Western Union, or an exchange house can get it there in minutes, but a cash transfer can cost ~AED 100+ depending on the destination and amount.

Regardless of the option you use, I always suggest running a live check using our form below.

Our methodology & why trust us

We compared live data and ran real test transfers across the providers that let you send money from the UAE.

Every provider on this page is regulated and licensed to operate here. In the UAE that means one of three things:

  • A CBUAE licence for onshore providers and exchange houses

  • A DFSA licence in the DIFC

  • A provider regulated abroad that you can use from the UAE

We pick on merit, not on commercial deals (some providers here we earn nothing from).

If a local option is the fastest for a case, we've included it here.

We scored each provider on how fast it delivers, how fast it clears your first transfer, and how quickly you can fund it.

We backed that with our live comparison data and each provider's own figures.

The rates and fees on this page come from our comparison engine and update weekly.
