The Best Multi-Currency Accounts in Turkey in 2026

Table of Contents
İşbank Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı is my top pick because its USD and EUR balances can link directly to a debit card for overseas spending.
Akbank offers 12 foreign-currency denominations, while Garanti BBVA and Ziraat have stronger tools for choosing or tracking an international bank payment.
Kuveyt Türk is my participation-bank choice, although its foreign-currency account should not be treated as a multi-wallet travel card.

Foreign-currency accounts are separate bank balances
Turkish banks usually open separate currency-denominated accounts inside one banking relationship, rather than one wallet that automatically selects every balance.
Check card settlement and cash access separately, since holding a currency does not automatically make it available through every withdrawal method.
At a glance
In my opinion these are the best multi-currency account options right now:
Best for USD and EUR card spending: İşbank Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı
Best for a broad named currency range: Akbank Vadesiz Döviz Mevduat Hesabı
Best for comparing overseas payment routes in-app: Garanti BBVA Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı
Best for tracked EUR bank payments: Ziraat Vadesiz Yabancı Para Mevduat Hesabı
Best for participation banking: Kuveyt Türk Özel Cari Hesap
Best multi-currency accounts in Turkey
İşbank Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı
İşbank lets you spend or withdraw from the same USD or EUR balance.

Key information | İşbank Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı |
|---|---|
Type | Turkish bank foreign-currency demand account |
Currencies | Named convertible foreign-currency accounts |
Eligibility | Existing customer meeting identity and bank conditions |
Funding and receiving | Incoming and outgoing SWIFT transfers |
Card access | Debit card link for USD or EUR outside Turkey |
Main costs | No account opening or maintenance fee, transaction costs apply |
The USD and EUR debit link is limited to overseas use, so I would not assume the card selects another foreign balance automatically.
Overseas cash withdrawal costs 1.5% plus US$3 from USD or €2.50 from EUR before banking and insurance transactions tax (BSMV) and any ATM-owner fee.
Withdrawing US$500 therefore costs US$10.50 before those additions, making card purchases more practical than repeated cash withdrawals.
SWIFT carries separate pricing, while holding the correct currency only avoids a fresh TRY conversion at the time of payment.
Akbank Vadesiz Döviz Mevduat Hesabı
Akbank supports several foreign currencies and can link those balances to investment services.

Key information | Akbank Vadesiz Döviz Mevduat Hesabı |
|---|---|
Type | Turkish bank foreign-currency demand account |
Currencies | 12 named foreign currencies |
Eligibility | Eligible Akbank personal customer |
Funding and receiving | Foreign-currency transfers and account conversion |
Card access | Confirm linkage to the selected foreign-currency account |
Main costs | Transfer and exchange costs depend on transaction and channel |
The account supports USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, JPY, SEK, DKK, NOK, CAD, AUD, CNY and RUB.
Linking a securities account can simplify funding eligible foreign investments, although the investments carry separate fees and risks from the cash balance.
An online foreign-currency transfer to another bank costs TRY1,500 up to a TRY15,000 equivalent, before BSMV and possible correspondent deductions.
That bank fee alone equals 10% at the top of the tier, so small international wires can be poor value even when you already hold the currency.
Garanti BBVA Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı
Garanti BBVA lets existing customers compare international payment methods in the app.

Key information | Garanti BBVA Vadesiz Döviz Hesabı |
|---|---|
Type | Turkish bank foreign-currency demand account |
Currencies | Multiple named foreign-currency accounts |
Eligibility | Eligible Garanti BBVA personal customer |
Funding and receiving | Foreign-currency transfers and designated ATM transactions |
Card access | Confirm the card’s settlement currency before overseas spending |
Main costs | Online foreign-bank transfer fee varies by amount, correspondents may deduct |
The app can compare SWIFT, Western Union and international FAST according to the destination, currency and amount.
That route choice is useful when the recipient can accept more than one method, because a bank wire is not always the lowest-cost option.
Online or mobile foreign-bank transfers cost TRY1,050 up to TRY12,000 equivalent, with BSMV included and possible correspondent costs added separately.
I would use the confirmation screen for the full debit and recipient amount rather than treating TRY1,050 as an all-in price.
Ziraat Vadesiz Yabancı Para Mevduat Hesabı
Ziraat SWIFT Go makes eligible EUR bank payments easier to track.

Key information | Ziraat Vadesiz Yabancı Para Mevduat Hesabı |
|---|---|
Type | Turkish bank foreign-currency demand account |
Currencies | Eligible foreign-currency denominations |
Eligibility | Eligible Ziraat personal customer |
Funding and receiving | Foreign-currency transfers through branch and digital banking |
Card access | Confirm card linkage separately from the deposit account |
Main costs | SWIFT pricing shown before confirmation |
SWIFT Go covers payments from €10 to €10,000 when the recipient bank participates in the service.
The route shows its cost and net recipient amount before approval, then adds tracking after the payment enters the network.
Outside that range or network, an ordinary SWIFT can still work, but intermediary and receiving-bank charges may change the final amount.
Ziraat is therefore stronger for a qualifying EUR invoice than for everyday overseas card spending.
Kuveyt Türk Özel Cari Hesap
Kuveyt Türk offers residents non-interest accounts in supported foreign currencies or precious metals.

Key information | Kuveyt Türk Özel Cari Hesap |
|---|---|
Type | Participation-bank special current account |
Currencies | TRY, eligible foreign currencies and precious metals |
Eligibility | Eligible resident, with specific documents for foreign nationals |
Funding and receiving | Transfers, conversion and scheduled purchase orders |
Card access | Confirm the spending and withdrawal currency before travel |
Main costs | No account maintenance fee, transaction costs remain separate |
The account pays no interest and supports scheduled foreign-currency or gold purchase orders, which suits someone building a balance gradually.
USD, EUR and GBP have straightforward cash acceptance, while other denominations can have different branch or cash treatment.
Resident foreign nationals may need a passport or residence permit, foreign identity number and address evidence, with final checks handled by the bank.
I would choose Kuveyt Türk for its participation structure, then confirm the exact currency, transfer and withdrawal functions needed before funding.
Use the right receiving instructions
A foreign-currency account normally needs its own IBAN and SWIFT details for an international receipt.
Sending USD to a EUR account can trigger conversion, rejection or correspondent handling, even when both balances sit inside the same banking app.
FAST, EFT and havale mainly cover domestic payments and should not be treated as replacements for a foreign-currency SWIFT receipt.
Avoid small wires with high fixed fees
A fixed TRY fee consumes a much larger share of a small transfer than a larger payment, before tax and foreign-bank deductions.
Combine payments only when the recipient, purpose and timing allow it, then compare the confirmed total against a dedicated international transfer.
Wise can still fund an international transfer from a Turkish bank, but Turkey-based customers cannot use its restricted balance features as a normal multi-currency account.
Our best international money transfer services in Turkey guide covers one-off recipient payments in more detail.
Convert when the expense becomes known
Holding an existing foreign balance avoids converting TRY for that transaction, although the earlier purchase rate still determines its cost.
Match the balance to a known invoice, trip or recurring expense instead of opening currencies without a practical use.
For card spending, confirm that the selected bank links the intended balance because a foreign-currency account alone does not establish direct card debit.
Understand deposit protection
Eligible TRY, foreign-currency and precious-metal deposits at domestic branches receive TMSF protection up to TRY1.2 million in 2026 in aggregate per person and institution.
The limit does not restart for each currency, and it does not protect you from exchange-rate losses.
How to open and use a foreign-currency account
Choose the account job
Decide whether you need foreign receipts, card spending, a tracked wire or interest-free currency holding.
Confirm eligibility
Check identity, residence, tax and source-of-funds documents with the bank before applying.
Open the required denomination
Create the exact currency account and copy its receiving instructions instead of reusing the TRY account details.
Price the complete action
Include conversion, bank, BSMV, correspondent, recipient-bank, card and cash-withdrawal costs that apply.
Test the route
Check the beneficiary details and full quoted cost, then confirm the credited currency after your first payment.
Use the form below when an international payment fits your need better than maintaining a foreign-currency bank balance.
