MoneyTransfers aims to help users find the best money transfer provider for their needs. To support our free service, we may earn a commission from some of the providers listed in our search results. The commission may also impact the ordering of the providers shown. Our reviews are independent from this and are based on our research and testing of dozens of remittance providers on the market.

TorFX for a manager you can keep using
Feature
TorFX
Account manager
Personal account manager for initial and later transfers
Booking
Phone, online and app, with an A$50,000 online allowance
Currency tools
Forward contracts and limit orders
Personal forwards
Usually settle within 12 months, with agreed deposit and terms
Transfer network
40+ currencies to 120+ countries
Business transfers
Separate Australian business service and contract terms
Regulation
TorFX Pty Ltd, ASIC AFSL 246838
Client money
Pooled, segregated client trust accounts, without FCS protection
TorFX fits a move to New Zealand where you need help with the initial savings transfer and smaller payments afterwards.
Having the same contact can make those later conversations easier, especially when the recipient or payment date changes.
TorFX charges no transfer fee, so its exchange-rate margin drives the cost shown below, with intermediary or receiving-bank charges still possible.
I like having both ways to use the account, particularly when an initial property payment turns into regular transfers for living expenses.
The forward-deposit exclusion is a separate trade-off, because money committed to that contract does not have the same safeguarding as relevant wallet funds.
For a company payment, use its business service and obtain a separate quote, rather than applying these personal-transfer figures to supplier costs.
Currencies Direct is great for
Moving between account-manager help and app transfers
Continuing smaller payments after a move overseas
Find alternatives if
Your payment requires cash collection
You need to keep a forward deposit in a safeguarded account
Regency FX for managed recurring payments
Feature
Regency FX

Business transfers
Separate business-payment service and terms
Regulation
Payment partners include Currencycloud, FCA 900199, and Sciopay, FCA 927951
Client money
Separation of client funds through the payment partner named in your agreement
Regency FX suits a larger payment followed by regular expenses, with an account manager helping organise the currency exchange.
That can keep a pension transfer, mortgage payment or overseas living budget within the same service after the first lump sum.
The A$100,000 quotes include Regency’s exchange-rate margin, giving you a cost for the initial payment before arranging any recurring transfers.
I think Regency is more appealing when you expect to keep discussing payments than when your priority is booking large amounts entirely through an app.
For recurring expenses, agree the amount and payment dates with the manager, rather than assuming the initial lump-sum quote establishes the price of every later transfer.
Its portal gives you access to transfer activity, while the account agreement identifies the payment partner responsible for handling your funds.
Regency FX is great for
Combining a larger payment with recurring overseas expenses
Discussing currency timing with an account manager
Find alternatives if
Your transfer requires cash or wallet receipt
You want to book a substantial payment entirely through a mobile app
Xe for larger transfers online
Feature
Xe

Treatment depends on the transaction and account agreement, without FCS protection
Xe gives you more room to arrange a substantial transfer digitally than TorFX, which moves larger payments to an account-manager conversation.
That suits you if the recipient details are settled and you want to handle the booking yourself.
These A$100,000 quotes sit within Xe’s personal online allowance, so you can assess the price for a transfer arranged through its website or app.
For Australian bank funding, supported Osko payments use Xe’s BSB and account number rather than a PayID phone number or email address.
Your bank’s funding limit still applies, so the online allowance does not remove the need to organise access to the money.
I would not choose a personal account here specifically for a forward contract, because Xe’s Australian documentation is aimed at businesses.
Xe is great for
Booking a personal transfer up to A$750,000 daily online
Funding a bank payment using supported Osko transfers
Find alternatives if
You are choosing a broker specifically for an Australian personal forward
You have a complicated payment and want a continuing account manager
Cambridge Currencies for a UK payment by phone
Feature
Cambridge Currencies
Account manager
Dedicated specialist for phone quotes
Booking
AUD-to-GBP phone booking, funded by international AUD wire to the UK
Currency tools
Spot transfers, limit orders and forward contracts
Personal forwards
AUD-to-GBP service offers up to 24 months, with the term agreed before booking
Transfer network
Global network of 50+ currencies and 190+ countries
Business transfers
Separate service for supplier payments and other company transfers
Regulation
Payment partners include Currencycloud, FCA 900199, and Sciopay, FCA 927951
Client money
Safeguarded UK client account through the contracted payment partner
Cambridge Currencies suits a planned Australia-to-UK payment that you want to discuss by phone, particularly for property or education.
Its AUD-to-GBP forward gives you a longer planning period than OFX’s Australian personal forward, which can help with a payment due further ahead.
Cambridge charges no transfer fee, but your total cost includes its quoted exchange rate and the Australian bank’s international AUD wire charges.
The overseas funding step also needs time before conversion, making it a larger consideration when a UK property completion has a fixed deadline.
I think the longer forward term deserves a conversation for that kind of purchase, provided the funding arrangements fit your payment dates.
Cambridge Currencies is great for
Discussing a UK property or education payment by phone
Planning an AUD-to-GBP payment up to 24 months ahead
Find alternatives if
You want to fund through a local Australian collection account
You want to choose from automated quotes before speaking to the team
Fiberpay for own-name accounts and property coordination
Feature
Fiberpay
Account manager
Dedicated specialist with property-professional coordination
Booking
Own-name account, Australian local collection and online account access
Currency tools
Currency exchange and individually arranged risk management
Personal forwards
Confirm availability before choosing it for a personal forward
Transfer network
100+ exchange currencies, with Australian local collection
Business transfers
Private clients and businesses, using the appropriate account agreement
Regulation
Fiber Finance Group Ltd, with regulated payment partners including Currencycloud and Sciopay
Client money
Safeguarding through the payment or electronic money partner providing the account
Fiberpay fits a property transaction where money needs to arrive in an own-name account before the next payment is ready.
The team can coordinate with lawyers and estate agents, which helps when several people need consistent information about the same funds.
Ask for the conversion quote and account charges together, including any holding cost while sale proceeds wait for the next property payment.
I like that coordination when a sale and purchase overlap, although a straightforward transfer may need little beyond an immediate quote.
The company providing the account determines its protection arrangement, so identify the payment partner in your agreement before directing sale proceeds there.
Fiberpay is great for
Receiving funds into an own-name account before an overseas payment
Coordinating property payments with other professionals
Find alternatives if
Your straightforward transfer needs only an immediate online quote
You are choosing mainly for a defined personal forward term
Are currency brokers safe to use in Australia?
Money protection depends on the account and the company holding the funds, including whether customer money is kept separately.
For an Australian account, check the contracting company, its Australian Financial Services Licence where applicable, and the complaints process.
AUSTRAC registration concerns anti-money-laundering obligations, while an ASIC licence covers specified financial services, so the two registrations do different jobs.
The Financial Claims Scheme covers eligible Australian-dollar bank deposits up to A$250,000 per account holder per authorised deposit-taking institution.
It does not cover an ordinary non-bank currency-transfer balance, and foreign-currency deposits are outside the scheme even when held at a bank.
Segregated or safeguarded client accounts help separate customer money from operating funds, but they do not create the same deposit guarantee.
Protection can also differ within one company, with Currencies Direct’s forward deposits and margin calls excluded from safeguarding until released into the wallet after settlement.
For an overseas broker using payment partners, identify who provides the account and who handles a complaint before sending the money.
I suggest confirming payment instructions through the broker’s established contact details, especially if an email changes the account you are asked to fund.
A currency broker, your bank or a self-service transfer?
TorFX gives you an account manager, Wise centres the transfer on its online account, and NAB keeps the payment within your existing banking.
A$100,000 is within Wise’s bank-funded AUD allowance, so a substantial amount alone does not require a broker.
NAB charges no transfer fee for foreign-currency payments through its app or internet banking, while its exchange rate still affects what arrives.
Its default international daily limit is A$5,000, so discuss a higher limit before booking, or account for the A$30 branch-transfer fee.
The comparison below uses the same A$100,000 payment to show how those three options price transfers to the UK and US.

On A$100,000, a 0.5-percentage-point difference in conversion cost equals A$500, giving you a reason to compare beyond the sending fee.
I think a broker adds most when someone needs to explain a currency contract or help coordinate the payment with you.
If you already have the recipient details and want to book online, Wise or your bank can still be the better service fit.
When is a currency broker worth using?
I'd say consider a broker for transfers around US$25,000 or the AUD equivalent, especially if your payment has a fixed deadline or several stages.
An account manager can help organise the conversion around the payment, including situations such as:
Buying a home in the UK with a deposit and later completion payment.
Moving savings to New Zealand before relocating, then making smaller follow-up transfers.
Paying foreign university fees across several terms, with dates and amounts already agreed.
Sending pension or living-cost payments after moving abroad.
Use the first conversation to establish the full price and who will help with the payment:
How much will arrive for my total AUD payment?
Can you quote the exact foreign-currency amount on my bill?
Will I keep the same account manager for later transfers?
Which payments can I book online, and when must I call?
What deposit, extra funding or cancellation costs apply to a forward?
Agree the payment deadline as well as the rate, so a market target does not leave you short of time.
Understand the currency tool before choosing the broker
Choose the tool around your payment deadline and the commitment you can make when agreeing an exchange rate.
Tool
What it does
What to consider
Spot transfer
Exchanges at an agreed current rate
You need to fund the booked payment within the agreed time
Rate alert
Notifies you when the market reaches your chosen level
An alert does not reserve that rate or book a transfer
Limit order
Instructs the broker to exchange at an agreed target
Establish when the instruction becomes binding
Forward contract
Fixes a rate for a future currency purchase
You owe the agreed payment even if market rates improve
For example, a confirmed UK property purchase may suit a forward when fixing the AUD cost helps you budget for completion.
A forward can require a deposit and additional payments, while cancelling it can leave you owing money.
Australian personal availability varies, with OFX offering approved forwards up to 12 months and Cambridge’s AUD-to-GBP service extending to 24 months.
Xe’s Australian forward-contract documentation is for businesses, so do not assume every currency tool is available through a personal account.
I suggest comparing the full recipient amount before choosing a broker for your payment from Australia.

Our methodology & why trust us
We compared Australian-origin quotes with official service information, focusing on account-manager support, booking limits, currency tools and how client money is held.
Our checks included A$100,000 transfers across a range of destination currencies, with an additional A$1 million Australia-to-UK availability check.
The price tables show available spot-transfer quotes, while the reviews assess which services fit different payments and support needs.
We also included Cambridge Currencies and Fiberpay using their Australian services, rather than treating automated quote coverage as the complete market.
These comparisons are quoted prices rather than completed-transfer tests, and a forward contract needs its own quote and agreed terms.
Our review methodology explains how we assess companies and handle commercial relationships.
