Cheapest Way to Send Money Internationally from Indonesia in 2026

I suggest comparing Wise's mid-market conversion fee with a local service such as Topremit or Flip Globe, using the foreign-currency amount your recipient receives.

A low administration fee alone does not establish the cheapest transfer, because the exchange rate and any receiving-bank deductions can change the result.

If you already hold the receiving currency in an Indonesian bank, check that bank's same-currency transfer options before paying to convert rupiah again.

Wise

Wise uses mid-market conversion with a separate transfer fee

Wise converts rupiah at the mid-market exchange rate and charges a separate fee, with the total depending on the amount and receiving currency.

That gives you a bank-payment quote to assess alongside a local service's offered rate, rather than assuming the lowest sending fee produces the most money abroad.

I suggest comparing the same total rupiah debit and receiving method, because a price excluding the fee is not equivalent to one that includes it.

Funding supports Indonesian bank payments and eligible OVO or DANA payments, with no credit-card funding or international SWIFT pay-in for the IDR route.

Use the funding instructions for the actual payment instead of assuming the wallet option always costs the same or has the same limit as a bank payment.

Indonesian residents can use Wise's transfer service without holding a Wise balance, which is a separate feature unavailable under the resident account rules.

For a supported bank payment, I like the mid-market conversion structure, but I suggest comparing the fee against a local fixed-fee quote at your intended amount.

Topremit

Topremit's flat sending fee can suit larger supported payments

Topremit has destination-dependent flat transfer fees, meaning the administration charge can become a smaller percentage of your payment as the amount grows.

That can suit tuition or a larger personal bank payment, provided its offered exchange rate leaves the recipient with more money after all relevant costs.

A fixed fee becoming a smaller percentage does not remove an exchange-rate margin, which can remain the larger cost on a substantial conversion.

I'd say check the service and receiving method before judging the fee, because a bank deposit and another payout option can have different pricing.

Topremit gives you a destination quote through its app or website, including the conversion and available service for the payment you enter.

If the recipient can wait, use the lower-cost available delivery option rather than pay more for speed without a deadline that requires it.

For your first payment, also allow time for verification and bank funding, because choosing a faster onward service does not eliminate every earlier processing step.

You fund a personal transfer from your own bank account, so avoid an informal arrangement in which someone else pays the company on your behalf.

For repeat support payments, compare the normal price at the amount you regularly send rather than judge the service only from a discounted first quote.

Flip Globe

Flip Globe has low starting fees on eligible routes

Flip Globe's fees start from Rp20,000 on eligible transfers, but the actual charge depends on the receiving country, bank and amount.

That starting price is worth assessing for your payment, although I would not apply it to every Globe destination or treat it as the full conversion cost.

The exchange rate determines the foreign amount received, so a lower administration fee can still lose to another provider with a better conversion for the same rupiah debit.

International Globe payments also have separate pricing from Flip's domestic transfers, meaning a free local transfer feature does not make the overseas payment free.

Funding uses a bank transfer or virtual account under the instructions for your transaction, with the final quote checked before you send.

For existing Flip users, that gives you another international quote without choosing a service simply because its domestic reputation is familiar.

Rate alerts can help monitor a planned conversion, but I would not delay a tuition deadline on the assumption that the rate will improve.

For an essential payment, allow time for delivery and compare today's amount rather than treat waiting for a preferred exchange rate as a guaranteed saving.

Transfez

Transfez uses local bank payouts instead of an ordinary international wire

Transfez's international remittance service uses receiving partners to pay into the recipient's bank, with a flat administration fee for the supported route.

That can avoid the layered correspondent-bank cost of an ordinary SWIFT payment, although I suggest checking the quoted receiving amount and any exceptions for your destination.

For tuition or a regular living-cost payment, I'd say compare that local bank-payout quote alongside Topremit and Wise for the same total rupiah debit.

The administration fee varies by destination, and Transfez's offered exchange rate also affects the total, so the flat fee does not establish the cheapest conversion.

Confirm the institution's required reference before paying, because an otherwise inexpensive transfer can create another charge if it arrives short or cannot be matched.

Ordinary remittance funding uses an Indonesian bank payment, while Pay by Card is a separate product for qualifying invoices with its own service charge.

I suggest using bank funding when the money is already available, rather than assuming card rewards outweigh the invoice-service fee or any issuer charges.

BCA

BCA can waive the provision when you fund from Poket Valas

BCA waives its provision fee for foreign-currency transfers funded from Poket Valas, giving existing holders a different cost from some other funding arrangements.

If you already hold the currency you need to send, a same-currency payment can also avoid a new rupiah conversion for that transfer.

That does not erase any conversion cost incurred when you originally bought the balance, so distinguish today's transfer cost from the full cost of acquiring the currency.

I'd say request the quote for your actual funding balance, rather than assume every BCA international payment includes the same percentage provision.

The electronic-channel telex charge is Rp35,000, while branch funding and optional services have their own tariffs and conditions.

Full Amount can add a currency-dependent charge, but it can prevent a supported payment arriving short when the recipient needs an exact amount.

Value Today also has a separate charge and currency cut-off, so I would not add it to a planned payment that has enough time for the ordinary service.

Value Today

For a small payment, those fixed charges can outweigh a low exchange margin, while a larger same-currency payment can have a different result.

I'd say compare BCA with a transfer app using the full receiving amount, rather than treat a bank as expensive before checking the funding balance and charges.

Bank Mandiri

Mandiri discounts eligible Livin transfer fees

Mandiri's Livin international-transfer promotion reduces the rupiah transaction fee to Rp35,000 from the regular Rp75,000 during the offer ending 31 December 2026.

That saves Rp40,000 in the transaction-fee component on an eligible payment, although the separate variable commission and any conversion still affect the total cost.

The commission includes the exchange-rate difference and forwarding service, so Rp35,000 should not be treated as the full price of sending abroad.

I suggest comparing the final amount against another quote, particularly if you already have an active Mandiri account and can use the Livin payment route.

The service accepts eligible rupiah or foreign-currency balances, with the relevant fee depending on the source currency and actual transfer.

Its non-SWIFT service has full-amount arrangements on supported routes, with an exception for Global USD payments to destinations outside the United States.

For that exception, receiving-bank deductions can still apply, so a dollar-denominated account elsewhere is not equivalent to a US domestic dollar payment.

The Livin IDR-funded route has a cumulative monthly US$10,000-equivalent product limit, with larger documented payments handled through the branch SWIFT route.

That app limit is separate from the currency-purchase documentation rules, and changing providers should not be treated as a way to avoid required evidence.

Mandiri's fee discount has an end date

The eligible Livin transaction-fee promotion runs until 31 December 2026, while a separate variable commission remains part of the payment cost.

Check the current quote when you send, especially after the offer expires or if your payment uses a different funding currency.

What makes an overseas transfer cheaper?

The total rupiah debit

Check whether the sending fee is added to the amount or taken from it, because two similarly labelled transfers can use different total payments from you.

For a fair price check, use the same total sender cost and compare how much arrives in the recipient's usable currency.

The rate used for conversion

A provider can charge no separate transfer fee and still earn money through its exchange rate, leaving the recipient with less than another quoted service.

I'd say compare the final amount rather than choose by a no-fee label, particularly for a larger payment where a small rate difference has a bigger effect.

Sending dollars to a dollar account avoids conversion on that payment, but it does not make a previous rupiah-to-dollar conversion free.

Bank and recipient charges

A low sending fee can be followed by an intermediary-bank deduction, which is especially relevant when the receiving institution needs an exact tuition or invoice amount.

Use an eligible full-amount or local receiving route when it solves that requirement, then include the extra charge in the price comparison.

For a cash-funded transfer, an authorised Western Union agent gives another sending route, but its fee and exchange rate need a separate quote.

See best international money transfer services from Indonesia for receiving and funding choices, rather than compare a cash payment directly with a bank-only quote.

How to reduce your transfer cost

Confirm the receiving currency and method

Use the bank, wallet or cash method your recipient needs, because a cheaper incompatible quote will not solve the payment.

Get quotes for the same total payment

Match the total rupiah debit, recipient country and payout method, including whether the fee is added separately to the amount.

Check the funding balance and extra charges

Look for a same-currency funding option if you already hold the money, then include any bank, card or recipient charge.

Avoid unnecessary speed upgrades

Use the lower-cost available delivery option when the recipient can wait, while allowing time for verification and funding before the deadline.

Check the normal price for repeated payments

Include account or subscription costs and the repeat-transfer price, rather than assume a promotion or waived charge continues indefinitely.

Larger transfers and documents

Indonesia's applicable spot currency-purchase rule requires an underlying transaction above US$10,000 equivalent per FX-market participant per month, effective from 1 July 2026.

That documentation threshold is separate from a provider's app limit, and it does not establish a universal maximum amount you may send abroad.

For a substantial payment, ask which documents the provider needs before converting, so an invoice or evidence of the funds is ready when requested.

I suggest allowing time for those checks rather than splitting a payment merely to avoid the documentation that applies to its purpose and amount.

Enter your destination and amount below, then compare the final receipt with a direct local quote for the same payment method.

Our methodology & why trust us

I selected regulated services supporting outbound personal payments from Indonesia, using current fee structures and funding conditions to distinguish where a cost advantage can arise.

Our live checks returned Wise on eight bank-payment routes, while local providers and banks were verified through their official Indonesia-origin products and tariffs.

The comparison shows available prices, and the reviews explain charges or funding conditions that can change the result for your actual payment.
