Table of Contents
Atlantic Money's €3 standard fee makes it a good option for bank-funded euro payments to Britain, particularly when you are sending a larger amount.
For family transfers to Latin America or Morocco, I suggest choosing by the amount received and the delivery method, because the cheapest company changes between destinations.
Revolut can also cost less for a small weekday conversion within your allowance, while a euro payment within SEPA may need no conversion at all.

A Spanish bank may already cover a euro payment
For euros sent to another eligible SEPA account, check your bank's price first because you may already have a transfer without a separate fee.
Santander also has no issuance fee for personal international payments made through its app or website, although currency-exchange costs can still apply.
I suggest comparing its final foreign-currency amount before assuming either that the bank is expensive or that a zero sending fee makes it cheapest.
Atlantic Money
Atlantic Money charges €3 for a standard transfer
Atlantic Money passes through its institutional exchange rate without an exchange-rate markup, charging €3 for a standard bank-funded transfer in a supported currency.
That fixed charge becomes smaller relative to the payment as you send more, which makes the service relevant for savings or property proceeds going to Britain.
A €3 fee equals 0.6% of €500, but only 0.06% of €5,000, before any separate bank charges that apply to your payment.
Those percentages explain the fixed-fee structure, rather than guaranteeing it beats every other service at either amount or on every supported destination.
I suggest choosing the standard option when the recipient can wait, because Express delivery adds 0.1% of the payment to the base charge.
That addition is €5 on a €5,000 payment, so the delivery choice can change the price even when the standard fee stays fixed.
Over a weekend, you can wait for the market to reopen without the weekend premium, or use the last available rate with an additional 0.1% charge.
Express payments over a weekend require the last-known rate, so the Express charge and the weekend charge can both apply to the same transfer.
The limitation is narrower currency and receiving coverage, because Atlantic Money sends to bank accounts and cannot replace a cash-pickup or mobile-wallet service.
For a supported bank payment, I like the fixed-cost structure, but it is irrelevant if your recipient needs a receiving method the company does not provide.
Revolut
Revolut can suit small weekday exchanges within your allowance
Revolut's Spanish Standard plan allows €1,000 of qualifying currency exchange per monthly period before adding a 1% fair-usage fee above that allowance.
If your intended payment fits within the remaining allowance and you exchange during the week, the conversion can avoid those additional exchange charges.
However, Revolut sets its own rate and a separate bank-transfer fee can apply, so an unused allowance does not prove the entire payment is free.
I'd say check both the exchange and the outbound transfer price, especially for a recipient who uses an ordinary bank rather than Revolut.
The allowance also covers qualifying automatic exchanges, meaning holiday spending can use it before you arrange an international transfer later in the month.
Standard adds a 1% weekend exchange charge, which makes waiting until the market reopens a sensible choice when the payment is not urgent.
A paid plan can increase allowances or remove additional exchange charges, but the subscription needs to save more than it costs for your usage.
For a large one-off payment, I suggest comparing the full price against Atlantic Money or a broker instead of buying a subscription without checking the numbers.
Wise
Wise uses mid-market conversion with a separate fee
Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate with a separate conversion fee, and the amount you pay changes with the currencies and funding method.
Bank funding can cost less than card funding, so I suggest checking that option first when you have euros available in your Spanish bank account.
The decision is about the full conversion cost, because a low sending fee elsewhere can be offset by receiving fewer pounds, dollars or another currency.
Wise also applies volume discounts once completed qualifying conversions exceed €22,000 within a calendar month, with lower variable fees applying above the relevant thresholds.
The discount is based on cumulative monthly volume, so it is not a reward for splitting a payment into several smaller transfers.
A transfer that crosses the threshold does not make the entire month's earlier volume eligible for the same lower fee, which is why the quote is essential.
For regular payments in several currencies, I'd say use the actual fees for those destinations rather than ranking Wise by a single euro-to-pound example.
Cash collection is outside this use case, so Remitly or Taptap Send can be more relevant when the recipient needs a local remittance service.
Taptap Send
Taptap Send is worth checking for recurring family payments
Taptap Send serves several destinations relevant to Spain, including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Morocco in our checked results.
Some transfers have a separate fee and others build the cost into the exchange rate, so the amount received remains the easiest figure to compare.
I suggest checking the payout partner at the same time, because a bank deposit and a cash payment are not interchangeable for every recipient.
A quote that is cheaper for a bank deposit may not help if your family member needs cash and cannot use that receiving bank.
For a regular monthly payment, compare the normal price at your usual amount, rather than a larger example that happens to show a smaller percentage cost.
The recipient may also pay to withdraw money from a wallet or account, which can affect the benefit of choosing that delivery method.
I suggest counting a cheaper transfer as a saving only when the recipient can access the money in the form they need.
Remitly
Remitly's first-transfer offer can reduce an eligible payment's cost
An eligible new customer can receive a promotional fee or exchange rate on the first transfer, with terms that depend on the destination and offer.
That can make the first payment cheaper than the regular price, particularly when the promotion covers the amount and delivery method you need.
I'd say check the promotion's exchange-rate limit before applying it to a larger payment, because a special rate may cover only part of the amount.
CurrencyFair charges a flat payout fee equivalent to €3 alongside an exchange-rate margin, so frequent small payouts can be more expensive than combining money into fewer payments.
For example, four separate €3 payout fees total €12, while one payout has a single €3 fee before the currency conversion cost.
That is a saving in fixed fees rather than proof that CurrencyFair's final exchange rate is cheaper than another company's for the same payment.
I suggest combining payments only if the recipient can wait, because delaying essential family support to save a fee would defeat the purpose.
The exchange margin still applies when converting money, so the flat fee should never be assessed without checking the final amount received.
CurrencyFair also requires the funding and exchange process to complete before payout, making it less suitable if cash collection is the immediate priority.
For a supported bank transfer, it is another option to check alongside Wise and Atlantic Money, particularly when your planned payment avoids repeated payout fees.
Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct has no transfer fee on quoted conversions
Currencies Direct does not charge a transfer fee, but its conversion price includes the difference between the wholesale and retail exchange rates.
For substantial savings or property proceeds, the quoted rate can have a larger effect than a small fixed sending fee elsewhere.
On a €100,000 conversion, a 0.5-percentage-point difference in the total conversion cost represents €500, which is why I suggest checking the complete price.
This is a cost illustration, rather than a claim that Currencies Direct saves that amount against any particular competitor or bank.

Bank transfer
I suggest asking for the final receiving amount and any bank charges, rather than choosing a broker simply because the transfer fee is zero.
Forwards can fix an exchange rate for a future eligible payment, although they manage rate uncertainty rather than guaranteeing the cheapest conversion when the payment happens.
A Spanish bank's funding charge can also reduce the saving, so check the cost of moving the money to the broker before agreeing to the transaction.
How to keep the full cost down
Compare the amount received
Compare quotes using the same euro amount, destination currency and receiving method, because changing any of those can turn the cheapest result into a different payment.
The exchange rate and fee together determine the amount received, while intermediary or receiving-bank deductions can create further costs on some international transfers.
For cash or wallet delivery, check any collection or withdrawal charge before treating a higher quoted receiving amount as the better outcome.
Use bank funding when it saves money
A bank transfer can be cheaper than a card payment, although the company's quote and your bank's tariff decide the cost for your particular payment.
A credit-card issuer can also charge cash-advance fees or interest for a remittance, which would sit outside the transfer company's displayed price.
For cash-funded payments, Ria or Western Union may be necessary, but I'd say compare the counter quote rather than an unrelated online card price.
Avoid an unnecessary second conversion
If you want pounds in Britain, arrange a pound payment to an account that can receive pounds instead of leaving a euro conversion to the receiving bank.
For Ecuador, the destination currency is USD, although its receiving partners and transfer arrangements differ from those used for a US bank account.
Sending dollars to an account that only accepts another currency can trigger another conversion, so confirm the account currency with the recipient first.
Check your Spanish bank's current price
A bank can have no issuance fee and still charge for conversion, so a zero-fee offer should be checked against the actual receiving amount.
Santander's online personal international transfers are one example, with currency-exchange costs still possible even though the app and web issuance fee is zero.
For a large transfer, check the funding bank's tariff before moving the money elsewhere, because that charge can apply independently of the company's price.
How to find the cheapest transfer for your payment
Choose the receiving method first
Confirm whether the recipient needs a bank deposit, cash or another local option, then compare services that provide that same receiving method.
Enter the amount you intend to send
Use your actual payment amount, because a fixed fee, monthly allowance or promotional limit can change which company has the lowest cost.
Check the exchange rate and fee together
Look at the final receiving amount after conversion and fees, including any bank or card charge that sits outside the transfer quote.
Check the normal price for recurring transfers
If you will send again, assess the ordinary quote as well as the first-transfer offer so you know what the next payment could cost.
Confirm the quote before paying
Check the funding instructions and recipient details, then confirm the price while the quote is valid instead of relying on an earlier example.
Enter your destination and amount below to check available prices, then choose an option that delivers the money in the form your recipient needs.
Find a lower-cost transfer from Spain

Our methodology & why trust us
I assessed costs by the fee, exchange rate, funding method and receiving option, including allowances and offers that can change a payment's total price.
Our live results cover representative destinations from Spain, while official checks separately confirm account eligibility, regulated service and the pricing rules discussed here.
Scheduled data updates through our comparison system, and the shortlist also includes options with no compatible automated quote feed.
Commercial relationships do not decide the order, and no company is presented as the cheapest for every destination, amount or payment method.
Read more about how we review companies, then check a current quote for the payment you intend to make.
