The limit is per person and covers your combined LRS use, including gifts, maintenance, study, travel and overseas investment.

From April 2026, education and medical remittances are generally collected at 2% above ₹10 lakh, while many other purposes carry 20% above the threshold.
Education funded by a qualifying loan does not attract TCS.
TCS is a tax credit rather than an extra transfer fee. You can claim it against your final tax bill, but the money remains unavailable until it is adjusted or refunded.
Add up your LRS payments across banks before sending. The bank or transfer company will need your earlier use to apply the threshold correctly.
UPI can be used to deposit money to a money transfer company, but it can’t send VND to Vietnam.
Instead, a money transfer company will switch to a local network of bank account or local rails to move INR to VND.
