I suggest Wise for overseas bank payments and foreign income, or Revolut when transfers need to sit alongside everyday card spending.
Lunar lets you send from your existing Danish bank account, while Remitly and Taptap Send suit family payments with local receiving options.
The deciding detail is often how you pay in kroner and how the recipient gets their money, rather than the app's download count.

Wise
Wise combines repeat bank payments with foreign currency balances

In my opinion, Wise suits repeat overseas bank payments when you also want to receive foreign income or manage travel money from your phone.
You can reuse recipients from previous transfers, follow payments in the transaction history and set rate alerts before arranging another conversion.
The app also handles identity checks and recipient entry, so you can manage the transfer without a separate branch visit.
Fund DKK through a bank within Denmark, using the payment instructions for your order rather than sending a SWIFT payment.
MobilePay cannot fund a Wise DKK transfer, even though it is a familiar way to move money between friends locally.
Your recipient can receive a bank payment without joining Wise, but you will need another app for cash collection.
You can hold foreign currencies, receive supported payments through account details and spend a matching balance with the Wise debit card.
That makes its multi-currency account a good fit when foreign income and overseas spending are part of the same budget.
Wise uses the mid-market rate with a separate conversion fee, with the transfer amount and payment method affecting the charge.
There is no personal monthly subscription, while the physical card costs DKK55 and some receiving or withdrawal services have additional fees.
For DKK3,000 and DKK15,000 bank payments, the figures below show the conversion fee and the amount arriving in each receiving currency.

I suggest Revolut when you want overseas payments alongside virtual cards, spending controls and everyday account transactions.
You open and verify your account in the app, then add money by an eligible bank or card payment.
Sending to another Revolut user is instant and free, while an external bank payment has its own receiving details, fee and arrival estimate.
The account lets you hold and exchange supported foreign balances, with the card spending from an available matching balance.
I like that you can keep holiday money ready without converting it back into kroner between trips, especially if you also use Revolut day to day.
Standard has no subscription and includes a DKK7,500 monthly exchange allowance, with a 1% fee on exchange above that allowance.
Standard weekend conversion adds another 1%, and Revolut uses its own exchange rate rather than guaranteeing the mid-market rate.
Card spending that needs conversion and conversions for transfers can use the same allowance, so assess your total monthly use.
Paid plans change allowances and add features, but I suggest upgrading only when those benefits justify the subscription.
Bank funding is free, while some commercial or non-EEA card funding can cost extra, alongside applicable international payment charges.
The transfer quotes below show how fees and exchange-rate differences affect what reaches the recipient, before deciding whether a paid plan suits your wider use.
Lunar lets you send abroad from your Danish bank app
Available on
iOS and Android
App store rating
4.7/5 (37k+ ratings)
Google play rating
4.6/5 (21k+ reviews)
If Lunar is already your bank, I suggest trying its international payment function before opening another account for an occasional bank transfer.
You enter the recipient's IBAN or bank identifier, choose the receiving currency and debit account, then authorise the instruction with MitID.
The payment sits alongside your normal banking, with spending notifications, card controls and budgeting functions available in the same app.
This removes a separate wallet-funding step, but Lunar remains a Danish bank account rather than an account for holding numerous foreign currencies.
Its international transfer function suits bank-account recipients, while cash collection or mobile-money delivery needs a different service.
Lunar's current tariff charges 0.5% for conversion on international transfers, separate from the sending fee.
Sending euros has no transfer fee, while SEK and NOK transfers cost DKK30 and other supported currencies cost DKK50.
Light has no monthly subscription, while Standard, Plus and Unlimited cost DKK39, DKK79 and DKK149 per month respectively.
Those plans have the same international transfer tariff, so I would not buy a paid account expecting it to remove the sending charge.
Card spending abroad has separate pricing, which should not be confused with the cost of sending money to another bank.
My suggestion is to retain Lunar for the convenience of your existing bank account, with the app's arrival estimate deciding whether it fits an urgent payment.
Lunar is worth it

Remitly

I think Remitly is a good fit when family need cash collection or a supported local wallet, and you want to fund the payment by card.
You create your account, select the destination and receiving method, then enter the recipient before confirming the order.
Recent transfers stay on the home screen, with transfer details and history helping you follow a payment or repeat it later.
Updates let you tell your recipient when the money is ready, without asking them to open their own Remitly account.
Danish personal funding uses eligible debit or credit cards, with Apple Pay or Google Pay available where offered.
I suggest another option when funding directly through a Danish bank transfer is essential, because that is not the verified personal payment route.
A credit card can also add an issuer charge, even when the app's own transfer fee looks low.
Remitly charges through the transfer fee and exchange rate, with delivery and funding choices changing the final price.
There is no required transfer subscription, but the first-transfer promotion should not be treated as the cost of every future payment.
For regular family support, my suggestion is to judge the repeat price and receiving method together rather than choose only on the opening offer.
For card-funded family payments, Remitly's fee and exchange-rate margin determine what reaches your recipient at each of these kroner budgets.
I think Taptap Send is worth considering when your family already receive money through a supported local wallet, and that receiving method fits their everyday spending.
The app lets you choose saved recipients or add someone from your contacts, then review their details before paying.
You can follow the transfer and use in-app support, which helps keep repeat remittances together rather than starting each payment from scratch.
Bank deposits and cash collection are also available on selected routes, so the recipient's options depend on where you send.
Eligible debit cards can fund Danish transfers, with credit and prepaid cards also supported under the current Denmark card rules.
It does not provide a Danish everyday bank account or a travel card, which keeps its role focused on sending money home.
There is no required monthly subscription, while the transfer fee and exchange-rate margin depend on the destination and delivery method.
Some routes have no separate sending fee, but the exchange rate still affects how much your family receives.
For mobile-money delivery, recipient withdrawal charges can add to the cost when they need cash rather than wallet spending.
The fee and exchange-rate margin below let you judge Taptap's delivered amount without treating a zero sending fee as free conversion.
TransferGo gives you bank and eligible card delivery choices

TransferGo is a good fit when your recipient can receive money through a supported card or bank route, and you want to choose within the app.
Its calculator brings together the receiving amount, fee and arrival time, with transfer-type choices available before you confirm.
You add a recipient, review the payment details and fund the order from an account or card in your own name.
For bank funding, use the supplied account details and unique transfer reference so the payment can be matched to your order.
The Transactions screen shows progress, with delivery updates helping you keep track of money sent to regular recipients.
Denmark supports DKK sending, but that does not establish every receiving method for every destination in the app.
I suggest choosing it for its transfer flow rather than assuming a Danish spending card or multi-currency account is included.
The fee, exchange rate and delivery choice determine the transfer cost, with account extras assessed separately if offered to you.
For a time-sensitive payment, I suggest weighing the receiving method and arrival estimate against the amount delivered instead of automatically choosing the lowest headline fee.

In my opinion, Xe is worth considering when watching a currency before sending is part of your routine, because rate alerts and charts sit alongside the transfer function.
You can follow market movements, arrange a bank payment and track its status from the same account.
The converter's market rate is a reference point, while the actual transfer uses Xe's quoted rate and any sending charge.
Danish signup supports MitID verification, with another identity-check route available when you do not have MitID.
That makes it an option for residents who need a transfer account without assuming one Danish digital identity method is compulsory everywhere.
European funding options include bank or wire payments and eligible debit or credit cards, with the available methods shown for your order.
Xe's app provides biometric access and support, but it is not a multi-currency account with a spending card.
The exchange-rate margin and transfer fee decide the price, while card issuer or intermediary charges can add to the total.
My suggestion is to use the alerts to plan a payment, rather than assume they let you predict the best day to convert your money.

Western Union is my pick when you want to prepare a payment on your phone but hand over cash at a staffed agent.
You select Pay in Cash, use the app's map to find an agent and confirm the transaction details when you arrive.
After paying, you receive the MTCN tracking number, while the app keeps the transfer and saved recipient details available for later payments.
You can also pay remotely using supported Trustly bank funding, cards or Google Pay, so cash is one option rather than a requirement.
Receiving methods include cash collection, bank accounts and supported wallets, depending on your destination and order.
For cash collection, the recipient's name needs to match their identification, and the agent must be open when they want to collect.
FOREX shops provide a Danish Western Union sending route, although the counter price can differ from an online order.
The transfer fee and exchange-rate margin both affect cost, with an additional credit-card issuer charge possible.
I suggest using it for the app-to-agent flexibility, rather than assuming the free app means free international sending.

The best price changes with the destination and amount, so I suggest checking what arrives after conversion rather than only the sending fee.

For regular payments, the cheapest ways to send money abroad from Denmark can help you focus on costs beyond the app's extra features.
MobilePay does not replace international app funding
MobilePay is familiar for local payments, but that does not make it a funding method for every overseas transfer app.
Wise explicitly excludes MobilePay for DKK funding, while Remitly's Danish personal service uses cards rather than a standard bank-transfer payment.
My suggestion is to choose the app around the payment method you actually want to use, especially when your bank or card adds its own charges.
MitID and bank verification
Lunar uses MitID for Danish payment authorisation, while Xe supports it for identity verification alongside another verification route.
Other apps can request identification or bank security checks without requiring you to open a new Danish bank account.
For a first payment, complete those checks before relying on a short arrival estimate for an urgent international transfer.
Sending euros still involves converting kroner
A free EUR SEPA transfer is not the same as free DKK conversion, because you may still pay to obtain the euros first.
Revolut's exchange allowance and Lunar's conversion tariff illustrate why the sending charge alone is not enough to choose between them.
I suggest including the subscription, conversion and transfer costs that apply to your own payment rather than comparing only the word free.
What about local and Nordic phone-number payments?
For ordinary payments between friends in Denmark, MobilePay can be a simpler fit than opening an international transfer account.
Its supported cross-border function sends to participating MobilePay or Vipps users in Sweden, Norway and Finland using their phone number.
The current sending charge is 4%, with your bank's conversion rate also affecting a cross-currency payment.
That is a narrower Nordic recipient-network service, rather than a replacement for worldwide bank deposits or family cash delivery.
My suggestion is to use it when the phone-number payment is the main benefit, and compare another route when the recipient simply needs a bank deposit.

Our methodology & why trust us
I assessed apps available for Danish outbound payments by funding methods, transfer controls, receiving options, additional account features and full costs.
Our live corridor results helped confirm quoted DKK options, with separate checks for Danish app functions, local tariffs and regulated entities.
App-store ratings provide user feedback alongside the features assessed, rather than deciding which transfer has the best price.
Our review process explains how we assess providers and transfer options.
