If you use Postepay, TapTap Send can fund supported family payments without making you complete the transfer at a post office.
For euro payments around Europe, my suggestion is a SEPA transfer through your bank or Revolut before choosing a currency-conversion service.
Wise adds scheduled foreign-bank payments and receiving details, while Fineco keeps overseas transfers beside the foreign balances you already hold there.

TapTap Send
TapTap Send works with Postepay for supported family transfers
Available on
iOS and Android
App store rating
4.7/5 (16k+ ratings)
Google play rating
4.6/5 (340k+ reviews)
TapTap Send accepts an eligible Postepay card, so you can pay from a familiar card without finishing the transfer at a counter.
You need online payments and Trasferimento Fondi enabled in Postepay, then approve the card payment through its push notification or SMS.
I like that two-app workflow when your family recipient needs a supported bank, cash or wallet payout.
The card must be in your own name, with accepted debit, credit and prepaid cards available through the Italian service.
You select the country and recipient in TapTap, review the exchange and receiving method, then keep the payment status on your phone.
The app does not give the recipient a foreign-currency account or require them to open a TapTap account.
Some routes charge a sending fee, while others build the cost into the conversion rate without a separate fee.
That means the final recipient amount is more informative than the absence of a sending charge, particularly for repeat family payments.
The selected €1,000 and €5,000 quotes show TapTap’s fee and rate difference beside the foreign amount the recipient receives.
Standard has no monthly subscription and a €1,000 monthly exchange allowance, followed by a 1% charge above the allowance.
A separate 1% weekend exchange fee applies, and Revolut uses its own exchange rate rather than promising the mid-market rate.
Bank funding is free, while commercial or non-EEA card top-ups can add a charge.
I'd say assess a paid plan against your regular exchange use, because a larger allowance has to justify the subscription.
Revolut’s quotes below put international sending costs beside delivery estimates, with your used exchange allowance and plan remaining separate cost factors.
TransferGo keeps delivery choices beside your saved recipients

TransferGo lets you choose the funding and recipient method, then review the amount received and arrival option before authorising the order.
I like that sequence for a repeat bank or supported card recipient, because the delivery choice stays beside the actual payment cost.
You can add the payment reference or purpose and follow Transactions with push or email notices after sending.
Bank funding uses your own account and the supplied transfer reference, with accepted card funding available for the relevant order.
The bank payment still needs to arrive at TransferGo, so selecting a quicker delivery option does not remove the funding stage.
The fee and conversion margin vary with the amount, funding and receiving method, rather than one fixed euro price for every destination.
I suggest using the offered recipient and payment choices directly, without assuming the app's general wallet features provide Italian foreign receiving accounts.

Western Union's Italian transfer app can start an order for cash payment at an agent, alongside supported bank and card funding.
You can save the recipient and follow the MTCN, with an agent option when the payment cannot be completed entirely online.
I think it is worth considering when cash funding or collection solves the payment, rather than ranking a cash network simply for its familiar name.
Recipient bank, cash and wallet options depend on the destination, with the quoted fee and conversion changing across those choices.
If you already use Poste, its separate Western Union channel works through the Poste app with an enabled nominative Postepay card.
That channel has €1,000 daily and €3,000 monthly limits, which are not the direct Western Union app's universal limits.
Direct and Poste quotes can differ, while credit-card issuer costs and agent opening hours can change the total or timing.
I suggest keeping the selected outlet and recipient instructions with the reference before arranging a cash-funded payment.
Western Union is worth it
Find an alternative
Start the order before paying cash at an agent
The recipient cannot reach an open cash outlet
Keep saved recipients and MTCN tracking together
Another bank-funded app delivers more money
Use the separate Poste route with an eligible Postepay
The Poste channel limit is too low for your payment
Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct brings account support to a larger mobile payment
Available on
iOS and Android
App store rating
4.6/5 (15 ratings)
Google play rating
4.1/5 (2.1k+ reviews)
Currencies Direct lets you manage supported wallets, check a rate and add the foreign bank recipient through its app.
I'd say consider it for a planned larger invoice when discussing the funding or recipient details with an account manager helps.
You fund through the bank instructions and reference for the order, with eligible EU debit-card funding available for EUR or GBP.
Bank funding is the more suitable route for a substantial payment than assuming every card can fund the full amount.
The app keeps account activity and transfer status together, but its transfer wallet is not an ordinary foreign-income bank account.
Currencies Direct has no transfer fee, while its exchange-rate margin and possible third-party bank charges determine the real cost.
I'd say compare the accepted quote at your payment size, because an account manager does not guarantee the lowest conversion price.
Currencies Direct’s rate and delivered amount at €1,000 and €5,000 show the conversion cost behind its no-transfer-fee pricing.
TapTap accepts eligible Postepay cards, with online payments and Trasferimento Fondi enabled before you approve the card authorisation.
Poste's Western Union service is a separate channel with its own limits, so it is not interchangeable with the direct Western Union app.
I'd say choose around the funding card and recipient method, rather than assume a post-office visit is always necessary.
For MoneyGram through Poste, app preparation can create a QR code, but completing the remittance still requires the counter.
Euro payments and foreign-currency payments need different quotes
A euro payment to an eligible SEPA bank does not need currency conversion, even when the recipient lives outside Italy.
A payment in Romanian lei, dollars or another currency needs its own conversion and receiving route.
That is why free SEPA does not make a foreign-currency SWIFT transfer free, or remove an app's weekend exchange charge.
For a domestic payment, your bank or a local payment app usually covers the task without opening another remittance account.
Keep foreign receipts in the currency you need
Wise and Revolut can retain supported foreign balances for later spending or sending, while Fineco adds the bank-account relationship.
I suggest keeping an incoming currency when you expect to pay another bill in it, rather than converting through euros simply because it arrived abroad.
Receiving through a wire or SWIFT route can have its own fee, and a retained bank balance does not automatically fund matching-currency card spending.
If you already use Krak
Krak can send eligible euro SEPA payments to an external bank, so that recipient does not need another Krak account.
I'd say treat that as a limited bank-payment option if you already use it, rather than opening a crypto account for an ordinary family remittance.
Its own SEPA fee is separate from currency conversion or crypto costs, and withdrawal holds can delay a payment.
How to send money abroad through an app
Choose the recipient method
Select bank, cash or the supported wallet before entering the recipient details and checking the payment quote.
Prepare the funding method
Use your own accepted bank account or card, and enable the required Postepay settings before approving a card-funded order.
Check the total payment
Review the fee and conversion beside the recipient amount, including any plan allowance or extra card-funding cost.
Keep the reference
Save the confirmation and collection instructions, then follow the app status or support route until the money becomes available.
Use the comparison form for your currency and amount, then select the app and recipient method that fit the payment.

Our methodology & why trust us
I selected Italy-eligible apps around Postepay funding, overseas recipient access and the foreign balances used for later bank payments.
Our research checked current Italian app listings, regulated services, mobile functions, local funding and live euro transfer results.
I assessed account features and recipient management alongside exchange costs, plan charges and the restrictions affecting repeat payments.
