For a euro SEPA payment, I suggest trying your current bank app before opening another account just to send money abroad.
Nordea covers that task, while Wise is my pick when the payment needs currency conversion or you also receive foreign income.
I suggest considering Remitly or Taptap Send around your family's receiving options, and Revolut when overseas transfers sit alongside your card spending.

In my opinion, Wise suits payments when you send euros overseas and also want to receive foreign income or keep money ready for a trip.
You can save recipients, repeat previous payments and follow the transfer history without rebuilding the payment details each time.
Rate alerts help you watch a currency before sending, while the arrival estimate gives you a timeframe for the payment.
From Finland, you can pay by SEPA bank transfer or an available card method, with Trustly offered for supported personal bank accounts.
Trustly lets you authorise the payment through your bank, with the sending account held in your own name.
Your recipient receives a bank payment without signing up, but Wise does not offer cash collection.
You can hold supported foreign currencies, receive payments using available account details and spend a matching balance with the debit card.
Its multi-currency account makes more sense when you receive foreign income or travel regularly, rather than only sending an occasional euro payment.
Wise converts at the mid-market rate and charges a separate fee that changes with the amount and funding method.
There is no personal monthly subscription, while the physical debit card costs €7 and some receiving or cash-withdrawal services cost extra.
For €500 and €2,000 payments, the table shows how transfer costs change the amount arriving in each receiving currency.

I suggest Revolut for Swedish-krona payments and travel spending when you want to keep that currency in the same account.
You open and verify your account in the app, then add money through an eligible bank or card payment.
Sending to another Revolut user is instant and free, while an external bank transfer uses the recipient's bank details and its own arrival estimate.
You can retain supported incoming currencies and spend a matching balance, rather than converting back to euros after each payment.
For a euro SEPA bill, your Finnish bank can already cover the payment, so I suggest this multi-currency account for the foreign balances and card functions.
The free Standard plan includes a €1,000 monthly exchange allowance, with a 1% fee on exchanges above that allowance.
Standard also adds 1% for weekend exchange, so the timing of conversion affects both transfers and overseas card spending.
Revolut uses its own exchange rate, and non-SEPA international payments can have a separate transfer charge.
My suggestion is to start with Standard for occasional conversions, then assess a paid plan against your combined travel and transfer spending.
Bank funding is free, while commercial or non-EEA card funding can cost extra and physical-card delivery has a charge.
At €500 and €2,000, the same foreign payment can use different amounts of your exchange allowance, with earlier conversions also affecting the cost.

TransferGo is worth a look when the recipient can receive a supported bank deposit or a payment to an eligible card.
The app's calculator shows the fee, exchange rate and arrival estimate before you create the order.
You can change the funding and receiving method, then follow the payment in Transactions with optional delivery updates.
For bank funding, pay from your own account and include the transfer reference so the money reaches the correct order.
That extra bank-payment step suits me better for planned transfers than a payment that must be funded immediately.
Eligible card funding is another option, while recipient-card and mobile-wallet availability depends on the destination.
Transfer fees and exchange-rate costs change with the amount, delivery choice and funding method.
I suggest judging TransferGo on the finished transfer quote, rather than choosing the fastest delivery option before seeing its price.
TransferGo is worth it

I think Xe is worth considering when you want to watch a currency and arrange a bank payment from the same app.
You can set rate alerts, view currency charts and track a transfer, with biometric access and in-app support available.
The chart or currency converter uses reference rates, while the money-transfer quote gives the rate you can send at.
An alert reaching your target does not guarantee that the finished transfer will use that exact rate.
You register and complete identity checks before sending, then enter the recipient's bank details and review the quoted payment.
Eligible bank or card funding is available for European transfers, although prepaid cards are excluded and first-time card access can be restricted.
My suggestion is to use bank funding for a planned payment and compare the finished cost before choosing a card.
The exchange-rate margin and any transfer fee affect the amount received, while a credit-card issuer can add its own charge.
Xe is a transfer and currency-monitoring app, without the everyday card-spending account offered by Wise or Revolut.

Western Union is my pick when you want app tracking but need to fund the transfer with cash at an agent.
Create the payment on your phone, select Pay in Cash and find a participating location before completing the funding with staff.
The app keeps receiver details and the tracking number, so you can follow the transfer after leaving the counter.
FOREX offers Western Union counter service in Finland, giving you a staffed route alongside the app.
For remote funding, you can also use supported Trustly, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay methods.
Bank deposits, cash collection and wallet delivery depend on the route, with the receiving method selected before you pay.
I suggest choosing it for the cash-funding option, while checking whether the recipient can collect during the agent's opening hours.
Western Union charges a transfer fee and exchange-rate margin, and the counter price can differ from an online order.
There is no mandatory app subscription, although a card issuer can add a separate funding charge.
Western Union is worth it

Cheapest apps for transfers from Finland
I suggest comparing the amount received for your actual destination, since a low app fee can be offset by its exchange rate.
For regular payments, the cheapest way to send money abroad depends on funding, delivery and the amount you send.
The quotes below compare available prices across eight destinations, with separate €500 and €2,000 examples.

When your Finnish bank app is enough
For a euro payment to another SEPA bank account, my suggestion is to check your current bank's digital payment service first.
There is no currency conversion to solve, and an eligible instant SEPA payment can reach the recipient without a specialist transfer account.
Nordea's free digital euro SEPA payments illustrate why the cheapest foreign-exchange app is not automatically the best choice for that task.
For a Swedish-krona or pound payment, compare the bank's conversion and payment charge against an app quote.
If the payment is large enough that you want help arranging it, international money transfer services can include brokers alongside app-based companies.
Can you send abroad with MobilePay?
MobilePay can send phone-number payments to participating users in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, with a receiving card required.
The Finnish international service fee is 4%, and your bank's card conversion can add another cost.
I suggest using that network for a payment to someone already using it, rather than treating MobilePay as a worldwide remittance app.
For domestic payments, sending more than €400 to the same person within 24 hours incurs a 1% fee on the excess.
That is a narrower use case than paying into a foreign bank account or a mobile-money wallet outside the Nordic network.
How to send an international payment from your phone
Choose how the recipient receives money
Start with a bank deposit, cash collection or supported wallet, using the recipient's available options to narrow the apps.
Open the account and prepare your identity checks
Complete the app's registration and verification, or activate currency payments with Nordea before planning your first foreign payment.
Select funding and review the finished quote
Choose an eligible bank or card method, then check the amount received, fee and arrival estimate before authorising the order.
Save the payment and follow its progress
Keep the receipt or tracking number, and give the recipient any details they need for collection or confirmation.
