Wise is my pick for converting euros into an overseas bank payment, while Remitly offers more flexibility when your family needs cash or a mobile wallet.
Taptap Send suits recurring support payments across its receiving countries, and Orange Money Europe lets you fund a remittance wallet with cash in France.
For selling French property or moving a substantial euro balance abroad, I suggest getting a managed quote from Currencies Direct alongside an online transfer quote.

For a euro payment to another SEPA bank account, I suggest checking your French bank first because an ordinary online transfer may already be free.
Wise
Wise combines overseas bank payments with mid-market conversion
Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate and charges a separate fee, making it a strong option for converting euros before an overseas bank deposit.
I like it for payments such as rent in Britain or moving savings into your own US bank account, provided the receiving account is supported.
Your recipient does not need a Wise account for an ordinary bank deposit, so the payment can go directly to the account they already use.
From France, eligible euro payments can use bank transfer, connected bank payments or a supported card, with the fee depending on your funding method.
For a larger payment, I suggest bank funding, since a card can add costs without improving the final delivery enough to justify them.
A euro bank payment can take one or two working days to reach Wise, which is separate from the onward delivery estimate for your recipient.
For an urgent transfer, use the estimate for the whole payment rather than assuming that a quick currency conversion means instant bank arrival.
Wise does not offer cash collection, so I suggest Remitly or Western Union when the recipient needs to collect money in person.
The same distinction applies to wallet payments, because a supported receiving bank does not establish availability for the recipient's particular mobile-money account.
For substantial savings or property proceeds, keep the relevant statements or sale documents ready because source-of-funds checks can delay a first large payment.
Currencies Direct adds account-manager support for coordinating that payment, while Wise suits someone comfortable arranging the bank transfer and conversion themselves.
Remitly
Remitly gives your recipient more ways to receive money
Remitly offers bank deposits, cash collection and mobile-wallet payments in supported destinations, so you can choose around how your family already receives money.
That is a better starting point for family support than choosing the lowest bank-deposit quote when the recipient would struggle to access the account.
Sending to Morocco and sending to Senegal can involve different receiving partners, even though both payments begin with euros from your French account.
My suggestion is to confirm the bank, wallet or collection location with the recipient before entering their details, particularly when several similarly named services operate locally.
For cash collection, the recipient's name must match their identification, and a nearby collection point is only helpful if it will be open when needed.
From France, Remitly supports eligible bank and card funding, with the available payment options and delivery estimate shown for your chosen transfer.
The fee and exchange rate can change with the receiving method, so check the final amount for the same payout option when assessing different providers.
A first-transfer discount can reduce an initial payment's cost, although I suggest judging monthly support by the repeat price rather than a temporary promotion.
If the recipient uses a mobile wallet, check whether withdrawing the balance adds a local charge before treating the displayed wallet deposit as their spendable cash.
For a property payment into an overseas bank account, I'd say use a bank-transfer service or broker rather than select Remitly for its cash network.
Taptap Send
Taptap Send covers family transfers across a broad range of destinations
Taptap Send is an app-based option for France residents, including eligible residents in Mayotte and Réunion, with a local active phone number required.
Its receiving countries extend across Africa and other regions, making it convenient when your family payments involve more than one supported destination.
You can send to eligible bank accounts, mobile wallets or cash locations, although the available methods depend on the receiving country and local partner.
I suggest picking the recipient's established wallet or bank first, rather than changing their receiving arrangements simply because another delivery method has a lower quote.
French funding supports eligible Visa, Mastercard and Cartes Bancaires cards, including credit and prepaid cards under the current payment rules.
A credit card's acceptance does not remove possible charges from your card issuer, so I suggest checking those before using one for regular family payments.
Some transfers have no separate sending fee, but the exchange rate can still include a margin and other transfers can carry a fee.
The CFA franc's fixed euro parity does not make every transfer free, because a provider's conversion rate and other charges can still reduce the amount received.
Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire use the same West African CFA franc, but the supported wallets and withdrawal arrangements can differ between those destinations.
For a recipient who already uses Wave or another supported wallet, Sendwave is another France-origin option to check alongside the available Taptap route.
Neither app gives you Orange Money Europe's French cash top-up arrangement, so my suggestion is to look elsewhere if you need to pay with cash here.
Revolut
Revolut makes sense when both people already have accounts
Transfers between Revolut users are instant, which suits payments to someone abroad who already holds a Revolut account in a supported currency.
That is a different service from an international payment to an external bank, where the destination, receiving currency and transfer route affect charges and timing.
Revolut's French Standard plan has a €1,000 monthly exchange allowance, with a 1% fair-usage fee on exchange above that allowance.
Standard also charges 1% for weekend currency exchange, so exchanging during the week can avoid an extra charge on the same planned payment.
Travel spending and other qualifying exchanges use the same allowance, meaning a €500 transfer can attract an excess fee after earlier currency conversions.
I suggest checking your remaining allowance before transferring, rather than judging the cost from the size of this particular payment alone.
Paid plans change the exchange allowances and fees, but a subscription only makes financial sense if its benefits justify the ongoing monthly cost.
Revolut uses its own exchange rate, so I'd say assess the final amount received rather than assume it matches Wise's mid-market conversion structure.
The French service operates through a branch of Revolut Bank UAB, with eligible deposits covered by the Lithuanian guarantee scheme up to €100,000 in aggregate.
That protection does not establish the cost or speed of an external payment, which still needs checking separately before sending.
Western Union
Western Union gives cash recipients a wider collection network
Western Union suits recipients who need cash collection, with a large international network and France sending options through its website, app and local locations.
I suggest choosing the collection point with the recipient before paying, because distance and opening hours can outweigh a small difference in the quoted fee.
Separate Western Union agencies accept cash funding, while La Poste has different payment rules that can affect whether you can use your nearest postal location.
At a La Poste counter, the service requires a La Banque Postale account and payment with a La Banque Postale bank card.
Equipped postal self-service machines accept French bank cards, with a €1,500 maximum per transaction including the transfer fee.
You therefore should not assume that any French post office will let you walk in and pay cash for a Western Union transfer.
Paying at La Poste
For cash funding, use an eligible Western Union agency rather than assuming La Poste offers the same payment method as every other agent.
Postal counters and self-service machines have different card requirements, so check the location and payment method before making the journey.
Western Union's fee and exchange rate vary by channel, so an online quote can differ from the price for the same transfer at an agency.
Cash availability also depends on local opening hours and the recipient's identification, even when the transfer itself has finished processing.
For recurring payments into an established bank or wallet, my suggestion is to compare the receiving amount with an app-based option rather than choose by network size alone.
Orange Money Europe
Orange Money Europe lets you turn cash into a wallet transfer
Orange Money Europe lets you top up a remittance wallet at approved French cash points, then send to supported mobile-money accounts abroad.
That gives it a different role from an app that requires every payment to begin with money from a bank account or payment card.
Approved Orange Money Europe and FDJ Nirio locations can accept cash or card top-ups, with cash-point availability and top-up fees depending on the location and amount.
The app also supports digital top-ups, including eligible card payments and instant bank transfers, with the card belonging to the account owner.
You can use the service with other mobile operators, so an Orange-branded sending account does not require you to switch your French mobile subscription.
I'd say consider it when you need to fund with cash in France and your recipient already uses one of its supported wallets.
The sending fee and currency conversion can both affect the amount received, while a local wallet cash-out charge can reduce what the recipient withdraws afterwards.
That makes the total cost more than the sending fee alone, particularly when you also pay a fee to load the balance at a cash point.
Check the cost of loading and withdrawing
A cash-funded wallet transfer can involve a French top-up fee and a local withdrawal charge, in addition to the cost shown for sending abroad.
Ask your recipient whether they will spend the wallet balance or withdraw cash, because those two outcomes can have different costs.
Orange Money Europe's account is issued and managed by W-HA, a French electronic money institution, rather than operating as an ordinary bank deposit account.
For a large property payment into an overseas bank, I suggest a service designed for bank payments instead of splitting the amount across wallet transfers.
Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct adds personal support for larger planned payments
Currencies Direct handles personal transfers to and from France, with account-manager support for payments such as property proceeds or substantial savings moved abroad.
I'd say consider that support when the receiving deadline, bank documents and conversion all need coordinating, rather than choosing a company solely from a small-transfer quote.
Most personal transfers have no separate transfer fee, although the company's margin is included in the exchange rate offered for your conversion.
You can arrange a current conversion or fix an exchange rate for a later eligible payment, giving you certainty about the rate once agreed.
Fixing a rate creates a commitment, so I'd say confirm when your sale proceeds will be available before agreeing to the funding requirements.
It can protect a known payment budget from later market changes, but it cannot guarantee you the best rate available on the eventual payment date.

For a property sale paid in euros, request the final receiving-currency amount alongside another quote taken at the same time and for the same funding method.
Any fee your French bank charges for sending funds to the company is separate, as are applicable intermediary or recipient-bank deductions on the payment route.
The European service is provided through Currencies Direct Spain EDE, regulated by the Banco de España, with personal France transfers supported.
For a small regular wallet payment, Remitly or Taptap is a closer fit than using a broker for a receiving method it does not provide.

How to send money abroad from France
Confirm the receiving account or collection point
Choose the exact bank, wallet or cash location with your recipient, including the currency they can receive and any local withdrawal cost.
Check your French funding method
Use a bank payment, eligible card or authorised cash location, remembering that La Poste and other agents can have different payment requirements.
Compare the amount received
Match the destination and payout method across quotes, then include any funding charge or recipient withdrawal fee when deciding which service costs less.
Prepare identification and supporting documents
Keep your identification ready, and retain sale documents or bank statements for a larger payment that may require source-of-funds checks.
Send and keep the transfer reference
Check the recipient details before paying, then retain the reference until the recipient confirms that the money has arrived or can be collected.
What to consider before sending from France
Euro payments within SEPA
For another euro account within SEPA, an ordinary bank payment can avoid currency conversion altogether and may already be included in your French account.
An instant euro payment cannot cost more than the corresponding ordinary SEPA transfer, although branch charges and account-specific terms can still affect the price.
Wero also supports eligible bank-linked euro payments between France, Germany and Belgium, but it does not replace foreign-currency remittance or cash collection services.
In my opinion, these options need separate consideration from sending euros for conversion into pounds, dirhams or CFA francs, where the receiving currency changes the decision.
CFA currencies and wallet withdrawals
The official euro parity is 655.957 for both West African and Central African CFA francs, but XOF and XAF are different currencies with different receiving countries.
A fixed parity does not guarantee that a transfer provider converts at that rate or removes sending fees and local cash-withdrawal charges.
If your recipient needs cash after a wallet deposit, check the cash-out charge and access to a local agent before treating the deposit amount as cash received.
Moving your own savings abroad
For a large move, confirm the receiving bank's account details and incoming-payment requirements before converting the money or committing to a broker's contract.
I suggest arranging the transfer before a fixed payment deadline, allowing time for identity checks and any questions about where the funds came from.
Keeping your French account and receiving account in the same name can make the payment easier to document, although verification requirements still depend on the provider.
Wise, Taptap Send and Sendwave use Belgian regulated payment institutions for their European services, while Remitly's European service uses an Irish payment institution.
Orange Money Europe's W-HA entity is a French electronic money institution, and Currencies Direct's European entity is regulated in Spain.
Western Union's regulated entity depends on the sending channel, while Revolut's French banking service is a branch of its Lithuanian bank.
Payment and electronic-money institutions safeguard customer funds under their applicable rules, which is different from deposit insurance covering eligible bank balances.
I suggest using the company's official app or an authorised agent, and keeping the payment receipt rather than relying on someone offering an informal transfer arrangement.
Use the form below with your destination and amount to find the available options for the receiving method your recipient needs.

Our methodology & why trust us
I selected services that support personal transfers from France, using their receiving methods and funding arrangements to distinguish the roles in this shortlist.
Our live corridor checks covered Morocco, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Britain, the United States and Algeria, with provider availability varying between destinations.
Our comparison components update the available fees and rates, while the reviews explain the account and payment conditions that those figures do not settle.
