I suggest considering Wise for overseas bank payments when you want mid-market currency conversion, and Remitly when your recipient needs more local receiving options.
Western Union works with enabled Postepay cards online, while MoneyGram lets you arrange a transfer at a participating post-office counter without a current account.
For moving substantial savings or property proceeds, Currencies Direct adds personal support around the payment rather than another cash-collection service.

Wise
Wise converts at the mid-market rate for bank payments
Wise combines mid-market currency conversion with payments into a recipient’s existing bank account, making it suitable for overseas rent, family payments and moving your own savings.
You can fund a transfer from your Italian bank account and send it to the recipient’s local bank account, without asking them to join Wise.
That suits paying overseas expenses or moving money to your own account abroad, although cash collection requires another service.
Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate and charges a separate fee, so the cost changes with the currency and amount.
Bank funding usually costs less than paying by debit or credit card, which makes the payment method worth comparing before confirming.
You can also pay from an existing Wise balance, with the available options shown when setting up your transfer.
The arrival estimate depends on the route and how quickly Wise receives your money, so an urgent payment deserves a separate timing check.
The figures below show bank-transfer costs across currencies, so use the recipient amount and the applicable funding method when checking your payment.
Revolut makes payments between existing users free
Revolut makes most sense if you already use the account and want to send money from the same app.
Payments to other Revolut users are free, as are euro transfers within SEPA, so family payments can be straightforward when those conditions fit.
Foreign-currency bank payments have different pricing, with a transfer charge depending on the currency and destination.
On Standard, the first €1,000 of monthly exchange is within the allowance, then a 1% fair-use fee applies to the excess.
Weekend currency exchange carries a separate 1% fee, which can change the comparison even when your allowance remains available.
Revolut sets its own exchange rate, so I suggest comparing the recipient amount rather than assuming it matches the mid-market rate.
You can add money by bank transfer, while some non-EEA or commercial card top-ups carry a charge.
The Italian service operates through Revolut Bank UAB’s Italian branch, with banking supervision rather than the status of a stand-alone remittance app.
For a payment to someone outside Revolut, include the exchange charge and international transfer fee before deciding whether your existing account is the better option.
Taptap Send reaches supported wallets from Postepay
Taptap Send lets you fund supported family transfers with Postepay and deliver to an eligible mobile wallet, avoiding a separate cash-collection trip for your recipient.
Italian customers can pay with Postepay, so you can arrange the transfer from your phone without completing it at a post-office counter.
The card must belong to you, and online payment settings or bank verification can affect whether funding succeeds.
Your recipient can receive a bank deposit, mobile-wallet payment or cash collection where their country supports that method.
That can fit family transfers to Africa or Asia, but check the specific receiving service before choosing the app.
Some destinations carry a separate transfer fee, while other transfers include the company’s earnings in the exchange rate.
A zero transfer fee therefore needs the same recipient-amount comparison as a service charging an explicit fee.
I'd say compare Taptap with Remitly using the same funding card and delivery method, especially for repeated payments after introductory offers.
For a recipient already using a supported wallet, I favour direct delivery there over cash collection that requires visiting an agent.
Western Union brings online cash transfers to Postepay
Western Union has an Italian advantage for Postepay holders who want to arrange cash collection through the Poste app.
You can send online through Poste using an enabled prepaid or debit Postepay card, with bank deposit or mobile-wallet delivery also available on selected routes.
This channel requires a registered Poste account and the relevant card linked to your mobile number.
Its limits are €1,000 a day and €3,000 a month, so it suits smaller personal transfers better than a large property payment.
These limits belong to the Poste channel, and should not be applied to every Western Union transfer.
You can also use Western Union directly through its website, app or an agent, with funding and receiving choices depending on the route.
Cash recipients need the transfer reference and the required identification, while collection also depends on the agent’s opening hours.
Western Union charges through the transfer fee and exchange-rate margin, so cash access needs to justify the complete price.
Check the actual Poste quote before paying, because a Western Union result from another funding channel does not establish your Postepay price.
MoneyGram through Poste Italiane
MoneyGram offers a staffed post-office transfer
MoneyGram through Poste is an option I suggest considering when you want to complete the transfer with someone at a counter.
You can pay in euro cash or with an eligible Postepay-issued payment card, and you do not need a bank account.
Bring a valid identity document and your codice fiscale, then check that the post office offers the service.
The Poste app can prepare a transfer request with a QR code and help you book a slot, but you still complete the payment at the counter.
That separates this service from sending entirely online through Western Union’s Poste channel.
Recipients can collect cash or receive money through an eligible mobile wallet, with the available countries and services checked before sending.
Fees vary by destination, amount and delivery service, while the exchange rate also affects the final cost.
Collection can be available within minutes for the relevant service, although identification checks and agent hours can delay access.
I'd say use the counter when you need to fund with cash or want help entering the details, accepting that its quote may differ from online prices.
Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct helps coordinate larger bank payments
I think Currencies Direct is worth considering for a larger planned bank payment when coordinating the funding, conversion and arrival is more important than cash or wallet delivery.
A personal account manager can help you arrange a bank transfer and discuss the timing, which can suit property payments or overseas tuition.
You can also manage transfers online, although this service has a different role from an app sending cash to relatives.
The euro funding guide supports bank payments, with eligible EU-registered customers also able to fund using supported debit cards.
I suggest using the bank-funded quote when comparing a large amount, then checking the exact recipient payment details before booking.
The broker pays into bank accounts, so the recipient needs the correct bank details rather than a nearby cash collection point.
For a scheduled payment, ask when the funds must reach Currencies Direct and when the recipient should expect the bank deposit.
For an immediate payment, compare the delivered amount with a bank-funded Wise quote, keeping the amount and destination account the same.

Its European service is regulated by the Bank of Spain as an electronic money institution.
Sending from Italy to Bangladesh, Romania or Britain
Family payments to Bangladesh and the Philippines
I'd say choose the receiving method before the company, because a mobile-wallet deposit and cash collection solve different problems for your recipient.
For Bangladesh, confirm the wallet or bank supported by your chosen service, then use the recipient's registered details rather than an informal name.
For the Philippines, check whether the recipient wants a bank deposit, wallet payment or cash, including the particular receiving partner they can reach.
A quick deposit into the wrong account does not help, so agree those details before comparing the amount received.
Euro payments to Romania and other SEPA destinations
Romania's membership of SEPA does not mean every Romanian account holds euros, so establish the account currency before sending the payment.
A euro payment into an eligible euro account can use SEPA, while a recipient needing lei also needs currency conversion somewhere in the process.
Your Italian bank may already cover the first payment within its account tariff, whereas the second needs a comparison of the conversion and receiving cost.
Moving savings to a UK or US bank
For a larger payment, I suggest comparing an online bank-transfer quote with a broker's supported transfer, keeping the destination account and amount identical.
If the account needs pounds or dollars, arrange that currency explicitly rather than leave an unexpected conversion to the receiving bank.
Allow time for identity and source-of-funds checks, especially when a property sale or accumulated savings explain an unusually large payment.

Banks, Postepay and cash funding
A standard euro transfer within SEPA and a converted payment outside that route can have very different costs, even when both start from the same Italian account.
For an extra-SEPA bank payment, check the exchange rate and any intermediary deductions alongside the bank's own sending charge.
I'd say ask the bank to trace a delayed payment using its transaction reference, rather than send another payment while the first remains unresolved.
Postepay is a funding instrument, and the remittance service used with it determines the recipient options, fee and exchange rate.
The Poste Italiane app's Western Union service and MoneyGram at a post-office counter are different routes, so their limits and prices should be checked separately.
Cash-funded agent transfers can have lower limits than bank-funded online payments, so confirm the authorised counter's conditions before making a special trip.
Confirm whether your recipient needs a bank deposit, supported wallet or cash collection, including the currency and receiving partner they will use.
Check the complete quote
Compare the final amount received for the same sending budget, allowing for the funding method and any bank or card charge outside the quote.
Prepare the required documents
Have accepted identification available, with the relevant account statement or source-of-funds evidence ready if the service needs to verify a larger payment.
Match the names and account details
Use the recipient's registered name and correct bank or wallet details, checking any cash-collection identification requirements before paying for the transfer.
Keep the receipt until delivery
Save the reference and tracking details, then contact the company's official support if the payment remains pending or needs additional information.

Our methodology & why trust us
I selected regulated services available to Italian residents, weighing recipient access, funding, total cost and support for the payment being made.
Our live results were checked across six destinations, with local official terms checked separately for account eligibility and Italy's Poste Italiane services.
Scheduled tables update fees and rates, while a company's direct quote remains necessary for the precise funding and delivery route you choose.
Commercial relationships do not determine the shortlist, and a familiar local counter can be the right option when online funding does not suit your circumstances.
