Square launches Tap to Pay on Android for merchants in Canada.

Square has rolled out Tap to Pay on Android for merchants in Canada. This is set to enable enterprises to securely accept credit card contactless payments with a compatible Android device at no extra cost.

The offering in question is meant to help both the well-established and upcoming businesses in conducting seamless in-person commerce. It is powered by Square’s efficient software that offers businesses a flexible mobile solution. At the same time, it meets the customers’ growing appeal for contactless payments and an overall seamless checkout experience.

According to the General Manager of Square Point of Sale, Alexis Sowa, “Square’s goal is to make sure that our sellers, no matter where they are or who they are serving, never miss a sale. Our launch of Tap to Pay on Android brings to Canada a unique technology that will benefit millions of sellers globally, giving merchants a simple way to accept payments and access world-class, integrated software for their business”.

To enjoy the offering, sellers will be able to open the firm’s point-of-sale app via a compatible Android device. Upon entering the sale, the seller can present the smartphone to the buyer, who will then see the owed amount. The customer can choose to make the payment via contactless credit card or credit card on a digital wallet like Google Pay.

The launch of Square’s Tap to Pay on Android in Canada comes after the company rolled the same in the US, France, Spain, Australia, the UK, and Ireland in April. Besides, in September 2022, it launched the product on iPhone.
