Apple Pay had expanded its reach into Vietnam as the tech giant strives to expand the customer base of its mobile payments platform. So far, the platform has been launched in over 80 countries including Morocco and Chile.

Apple Pay in Vietnam

Apple has been working on expanding its Apple Pay customer base across the globe in recent months. Vietnam is one of the latest countries that Apple has launched the mobile payments platform. Additionally, Chile and Morocco have recently joined the list of over 80 nations where Apple Pay is available.

In June, the tech giant resumed talks on the launching of Apple Pay in India. This came a few months after launching its first set of retail stores in the country. Granted, the South Asian market is crowded with the likes of Paytm, Google’s GPay, and Walmart’s PhonePe. Even so, Apple is keen on carving a niche for itself by introducing a localized version of Apple Pay on the UPI platform.

In reference to Vietnam, Visa cardholders are now in a position to enjoy a more private and safe way of making payments. The process of adding one’s Visa card to Apple Pay is quite simple and straightforward. Techcombank, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), VPBank, and Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) are some of the major card issuers that have supported the launch of Apple Pay in the country.

With the advanced payment platform, Visa cardholders will be able to hold their Apple Watch or iPhone close to a payment terminal to complete a contactless payment. It will also be possible to enjoy these benefits via one’s Mac or iPad.

According to Visa Country Manager of Vietnam and Laos, Dung Dang, “With the growth of mobile contactless payments in Vietnam, we think consumers will immediately embrace the convenience and security that Apple Pay offers”.
