Klarna-Airbnb partnership
Klarna has announced its partnership with Airbnb in a move that will see the latter company’s customers enjoy flexible payment options. For a start, the offering will be available to users in Canada and the US.
For those looking to book their stay in an Airbnb facility within the aforementioned countries, it will now be possible to apply to pay in four interest-free instalments over a period of six weeks. At the same time, guests within the US can apply to pay monthly for bookings over $500.
In line with this collaboration, Klarna’s CEO, Sebastian Siemiatkowski stated, “We know that one of the top requests from Airbnb guests was more options to pay for their stays, so we’re super excited to offer interest free payment options and support their mission to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere”.
Klarna’s partnership with Airbnb is yet another indication that the US market is one of the areas that the BNPL service provider is getting it right. Indeed, Airbnb has joined Klarna’s network of 500,000 partners worldwide. This as the firm expands into the travel sector.
Its successful expansion in this region is one of its long-standing goals. With over 30 million customers and more than 7 million monthly active app users, the US has become Klarna’s largest market. Even with the competition from the likes of Affirm in the country, it recorded a surge in gross merchandise volumes by 71% in 2022 compared to the prior year.
