Wise Platform has secured its first Japanese client in the form of GMO Aozora Net Bank. Wise Platform is Wise’s infrastructure offering meant for both banks and non-banks. The partnership in question is meant to avail fast, convenient, and affordable international payments services to the over 80,000 corporate customers linked to the Japanese bank.

Wise Platform’s first Japanese client

Since launching its online banking platform in July 2018, GMO Aozora Net Bank has gotten numerous requests by corporate customers for a fast, convenient, and affordable cross-border remittance offering. In recent years, international payments services have been on demand as companies deal with suppliers and workers from overseas.

With the recently announced partnership with Wise Platform, the Japanese bank’s customers can now enjoy the service at any time of day or night through their internet banking platform. Wise’s cross-border payments network will further ensure that the transactions are completed in a matter of minutes.

More specifically, the GMO Aozora Net Bank customers will be able to send funds to 28 nations in 8 currencies. This includes the UK, US, Singapore, Australia, and China.

In line with the partnership, GMO Aozora Net Bank’s Chairman, Takehito Kaneko stated, “Since setting up a new digital banking business, we have received many requests from corporate customers regarding international money transfer service. We’re glad to be the first bank in Japan to launch a fast and inexpensive international money transfer service for customers using Wise Platform.”

In addition to being Wise Platform’s first Japanese partnership, it is its fifth banking partner in Asia. Others in the region include Indonesia’s Bank Mandiri, South Korfea’s Shinhan Bank, Singapore’s Aspire, and Hong Kong’s ZA Bank.
